There was something peculiar about him; a certain stillness that was unnatural to her. She had never truly come to know him, though he had once served under her Uncle and Mother as their right hand. Of course, Tlanti had as well. It seemed that time made true nature clear—she and her father alone remained in the high ranks, great and terrible and true to the ideals promoted by their leader. Amongst these was the ability to imitate, and social interactions were one such thing. Salvia was not capable of lies on the level of her Uncle, but she was highly talented and quick to learn.

So despite any misgivings, she smiled and took a step to the side so he might observe the mare. She had finally settled, and begun the laborious task of birthing a foal. Her head was hanging and her legs bent under her chest, but there were no signs of any issues yet. “I have assumed the role of my father,” she said easily, speaking of the job as well as rank. “Your mare is a fine specimen; you should think of breeding her.” It would increase their stock, even if Itachi claimed the foal. The gene pool needed to be expanded, though—aside from the project of producing an ideal horse, she did not wish to see inbreeding create weak creatures.
