She closed her watering eyes and allowed Nani to pick her up. She stay very still in the leaders arms, feeling safe here. She felt slightly dizzy, tired, and irritated; she just wanted to go home and sleep. Instead, the woman brought her back to the temple, and Lillith came back to attention once the woman and her cart came back into view. The woman looked at Lillith angrily, and the red pup returned the facial expression. When the cart lady retrieved a rag and came towards her, Lillith puffed out her fur under Nani’s arm and drew back her lips to reveal sharp puppy teeth; she growled, Don’t you come near me! She hissed, now confident in the leader’s hold.
Lillith’s eyes were feeling better, but they were still runny, and though she desperately wanted to stare the woman down, she instead rubbed her face against a foreleg again, and then looked up at the Naniko apprehensively and expectantly; what would the leader do to the blonde dog lady? Would she bite her as Lillith had asked? That would make the pup very happy.
Lillith, despite her naivety, knew that she had not done anything to deserve having poison blown in her face. Her mother and father had disciplined her before with sharp taps and nips when she had done really bad things, but never had chided her in such a way when she had explored things, even if they were things her parents didn’t want her sniffing in. Usually they would pull her aside and explain to her why she couldn’t do things, and she would understand. But this woman, she had punished her for no reason, and it made Lillith very, very angry.
