The three of them had arrived in their 'new home' the day before yesterday, and Saul had worked hard to build something that would be usable as a home. The hut that was now nice and sturdy had taken him all day to build, especially when he had no help from Lilin, who declared she couldn't piece together anything, let alone something as advanced as a hut to live in. So the first night, the three of them had slept in the hut that Saul had built, together under the large amount of furs Saul had collected. The little hole in the roof- attached around the main support beam that cut the hut's space in half it seemed, was enough to keep fresh air generating through the warm space, as Saul had managed to hang a large deer skin over the door to keep the worst of the spring air out. Temeraire had decided that he still wasnt talking to either him or Lilin, and the dawn had broken bright and early with his son still not speaking. With a sigh, Saul had risen, grateful that they'd chosen somewhere with some fresh water supply. Bathing in the waters of the Moonstone Lakes, Saul had tried to organise the day ahead of him.
Lilin needed her own hut- while Saul had enjoyed having her stay with him and Temeraire, he understood her need for privacy. Furthermore, it was a little inappropriate- while they were cousins, they certainly didn't know each other well enough to be as comfortable as that. With Eclipse, Saul would have happily allowed her to stay in his hut, but there was still so much he didn't know about Lilin, or any of his new found cousins, that he had felt it necessary to build her something of her own. Now that he knew what he was doing, Saul dug the shallow trench first, a good few metres from his own hut, facing towards his. In time, he hoped that any additional huts would form a circle around the fire-pit he intended to create at some point in the near future. For now, it was time to start collecting long, sturdy branches that would be stripped and used to create a home for his cousin. Temeraire once again requested to be allowed to explore, although he clearly hated having to speak, and Saul had allowed him to do as he pleased, as long as he checked back every hour.
Lilin's hut was built exactly the same as his, with the larger wooden pole in the middle of the hut holding the roof together, although all of it was secured together so that it wouldn't fall apart. Saul thought that perhaps soon, he would have to find some tree sap or something to slowly begin waterproofing the roof and walls- if they rained, they would have leakages on their hands. For now, the weather was pleasant enough not to make the search a necessity, so as Saul clambered down from his makeshift ladder, he allowed a breath of relief to escape him. He'd done it! Lilin was going to have to clear out the grass from the inside, sweeping it clean enough to be a dirt floor, as Saul was going to have to do shortly. But for now, the two little huts, facing each other over about a ten metre gap to allow space, seemed quaint compared to the dilapidated ruins of human civilisation that could be seen on the shore of one of the larger lakes.
It had caused him to stop and think though. Clearly, the ease to which the two had settled here was something that Saul hadn't expected. It had reminded him of the two brothers, now identified as cousins, out there in the woods. Would they still be anywhere near here? Would they be interested in coming to stay for a while. It would be immensely good for them to spend some time with one another, and Lilin hadn't yet met the Brothers Grimm that was the two Stormbringers. Green eyes narrowed in thought before he allowed his mottled grey-masked face to raise to the sky, a long and calling howl escaping him. If they were anywhere around here, they would be able to hear him, and perhaps come and see what was going on.
