The girl relaxed, and Lea tensed slightly; her lips wanted to curl into a snarl. How dare the girl take such liberties around her - Lilith was a child faced with a threat, and the dark woman was astounded at her stupidity. The self-proclaimed Queen's hackles rose slightly in irritation, and for a moment her pearly white teeth were visible, but she was not otherwise outwardly cruel to the girl. It was simply a reminder of who dominated the conversation, and the submission Linquilea would require from this little girl. She'd made an intelligent decision by keeping a distance, but the dark killer was still displeased. That was, of course, her natural state of being.
Lilith appeared to associate some sort of spirituality with death, and while it did not answer Linquilea's original question it gave her greater insight into the character of the puppy. It explained the strange, mature aura she possessed, though the Queen herself did not believe in such things. "And so you feel connected to it," Linquilea stated, mostly for herself. But her eyes were focused on the little ginger puppy, examining her and attempting to picture the girl once she grew older. Would she be large, like Lea? Would she be apt in fighting? These were questions that could not be answered with a child so small. "But you have not experienced the half of it, little girl. Killing mice, rats, rabbits, and other such creatures - it is what our species was designed to do. We are the deadly predators of old times. No, the truly satisfying part is when you take a life that matters - when you watch intelligent life escape dying eyes, then you know power."
Speaking of it, Linquilea felt alive. Her voice was more animated than normal, and her face was lit more than normal. She emanated a strange, fiendish glee.
