Latent fire flowed lazily through royal blue veins, hidden beneath layers of skin and midnight fur. Unacceptable were happening now lately and it was a bloody shame he hadn’t managed to any heads yet. It was bad luck and nothing more that had withheld his chance to take lives in the name of Salsola. Pandemic had his doubts, and a paranoia that was quick to jump out to cause uncertainty about his visible dedication to his home.

He would kid himself into believing his role was to become a prominent one, regardless. He had been an uncertain child, and shouldn’t bring ghosts into adult life. He didn’t know of the ghosts that would rise to haunt him when this day was over. He didn’t know what had happened elsewhere, for time was of the essence and the scents he and the dark lady Siv followed were fresh.

Trails were all he had found, and the hulking black beast followed with thundering steps, if only to ensure that those who had been here was certain to have left Salsola at this time. The large optime rolled his shoulders and moved the heavy mace from one hand to another. He lacked finesse and elegance once he moved to swing the great weapon, but impact would crush bones and that was enough. None should travel alone and without a weapon at this time.

Whiskers pulled back along a crinkled muzzle, and the young man frowned. He wished to suggest they go back, but held his tongue for now. If he was not mistaken, there was a touch of blood on top of the breeze. ”Smell that?” the ebony beast rumbled, casting a glance to the companion he barely knew at all. Her presence nearly made him uncomfortable, but he’d accept what he could get today. Another attack had struck Salsola, and there were other things to focus on at the moment. With a frown slowly twisting into an unpleasant, feral grin, Pandemic followed the scent to its source.

”What have we here..,”
