Sparrow seemed hesitant to speak her mind, but Vesper did not reach out to comfort her and reassure her that she could say whatever she wanted. She only stared at her, waiting, and nodded slowly as she spoke. It was hard for the Optio to understand everything that she was saying, just because she wasn’t used to thinking about such things, but eventually she offered, “If you can weave, that would be great.” Her eyes fell to the rope that her sister always seemed to carry, and the ghost of an approving smirk crossed her muzzle. “We’ll resort to rope when we have to, but if we can weave enough branches, it should work. We might be able to dye the rope to look more natural, too.” She glanced up at the trees thoughtfully. “We’d have to replace the foliage when it dies, until autumn comes again at least.” She was already wondering if she’d be able to learn how to weave or tie ropes like her sibling, although it was odd to think that her sister would be teaching her something.

Ithiel spoke up next, and she nodded again. “After the war, unless there’re vines close by, we should go get the stuff you’re talking about. It would work for the long term, and be more natural.” She itched to go and use the vines now, but she knew it would take a long time for the vegetation to grow, with luperci poking and prodding to get it to conform to the right shapes rather than growing away from the stands.

She sighed, wondering if there was anything else, and glanced at the both of them again for last-minute contributions. “Let’s go gather some branches, and see what we can do,” she suggested. “We’ll see how realistic weaving and tying is once we have something to work with. One stand for now, so we don’t gather excess stuff.” She didn’t really wait for acknowledgment but meandered slowly toward the thick parts of the woods, hoping to strip some bushes and low branches of their twigs.
