Oh, the places you'll go

OOC: Sky and the kids are in their lupus forms, in a clearing in some unimportant area of the territory. xD

The lands that Zalen and Titania had chosen were by far the most beautiful Sky had ever spent the night in. The morning of her arrival there, she'd let the pups sleep through until the afternoon. After, she took them hunting and finally, they spent the night sleeping together under the moon and stars, safe for the first time in months.

The second morning of their staying in New Dawn territory met them with excitement. Lena had discovered the joy of birdsong for the first time since she could remember. Her voice had been what had woken both mother and brother that morning, her shrill howls and calls to the birds enciting even more chirping from the trees. Cody had woken second, sitting beside his sister and watching, listening, in awe.

Then Sky had woken, her eyes smiling over at her children, though she made no movement to 'wake up' for them. Her eyes were trained to them, but her ears were listening to the world beyond the birds. For the sound of pawsteps, of hooves, of claws and silence- the forest's warnings of danger. Nothing so far. The children and birds continued to sing happily, enjoying their new freedom of safety within the lands of their new home.

A few moments later, Lena opened her mouth wide and let loose a sound neither brother nor mother had heard her make before. A loud howl, melodic and beautiful, as if the girl's voice had shifted just for that one, long note. Sky lifted her head for the first time that morning and Cody whipped his around to stare at her, his folded ears trained back to his sister who still sang for a few seconds longer before stopping for breath.

Sky stood and approached her pups with a wagging tail. "That was beautiful, Lena." The girl turned her head and 'looked' up at her mother, as if she'd known the woman would be awake and there. "Didja hear it, Mum? I was singin' with the birds!" She skipped over and bumped her head into her mother's legs lovingly, Cody following behind her to lick at his mother's chin, their ways of wishing her good morning. She gave them both a lick on the nose before moving to stretch.

"I heard, baby. You sounded beautiful. Both of you." When he realized his mother had noticed him singing along, Cody lowered his nose into his chest fur, shy as ever. "No need to hide it, kids. You've got both mine and your father's talents in singing and that, my dear ones, is a blessing." Another lick, this time to both of their foreheads, before she trotted away a few feet to sniff around.

"Where are we going today, Mum?" Lena called, following her with Cody's guidance at her side. Sky paused to look back at her kids, then smiled. "No where. We're staying right here in New Dawn's territory. We'll go find something to do later. For now, why don't the two of you practice your defensive techniques?"

"Okay, Mom." Cody yipped happily, barreling his sister over without warning. Lena yelped in surprise, then laughing, rolled away with well-trained movements and the two started to brawl. Sky watched from afar, ears trained to the forest once more all the while watching them perfect their techniques a little more for the day. Most children their age worried about bugs and flowers. Lena and Cody were warriors. They could hunt, they could fight, they could survive already. Sky had made damn sure of it. She only wished Myrddin could've come with her...

Thinking of her second son brought a pang of hurt to her chest. She felt her eyes narrow a bit, against her will, as her mind ran over all of those memories. The first time she saw her white furred love, and then their sons and daughter... Tam's death. Seperating the kids when she took Lena to that rumored healer in the mainlands. How much she'd missed and how big Myrddin had grown while they'd been gone. How foreign his gaze was, not meeting hers with love and trust in the slightest bit. She'd made a huge mistake, leaving him behind... but she'd not give up. Someday she'd be back and she'd take Myrddin away from that place, whether Taliesin followed or not. Cercatori d'Arte, the place of pup killers. Sadness became determined rage as she watched her children wrestle. Someday.... someday....
