'Neath the black, the sky looks dead.

Morning could not come sooner for the desert-furred coyote.

It wasn't that Lohit hated the night - no, it was darkness he couldn't even tolerate. Each night that he slept under the stars, he hoped not to wake up to blackness. It only reminded him of the past, of those falling rocks, and the endless darkness that seemed to consume him. The sun, however, had chased the black from his citrine orbs and smiled warmly down upon his now-broken life. It was light and life, and Lohit had since then forever craved it.

The male arose with the sun, moving parallel to the horizon on his equally colored mare. Citrine eyes scanned the skies for Garuda, but found no sign of the falcon. "He hunt," he said aloud as his mare flicked an idle ear. "So.. we.. so we hunt." His heels spurred his mare at a quicker pace, feeling his own stomach rumble at the thought of food. The hunter began to get anxious as his mare attempted to stop and graze here and there, and eventually had given up on pushing her on. His animals had minds of their own, and oftentimes it was a wonder they returned to him each day. Dismounting (or rather, pushing) the four legged creature, Lohit walked a ways ahead, one eye trained on the rising light.

When it did finally rise, the male was unaware of the flowers that surrounded him. He had heard the rustling of prey within and began to follow it, spear drawn and poised. But when the light hit on the golden yellow flowers, the desert-furred male had to stop. It was as if he were looking directly in the sun's eye itself, thousands of times. They surrounded him, engulfed him, their petals spread like sunrays. Lohit found his mouth agape, not knowing what they were other than little sundrops growing from the earth. A claw reached out to carefully touch one dew-covered flower, but drew it back before it made contact, afraid it would burn. But they touched his sides, his legs and his back, and no fire sprung up. Looking ahead, he saw more of the sun's treasures, and licked his salivating lips. He decided he liked this place very, very much.

And so, he broke out into a run in the field, frightened birds taking flight before him.
