Some days, the presence of the loving Mother was not enough. Some days, the Father above was more desirous company than the Mother below. Sometimes the heavenly bodies above were more familiar and close. Isabella had spent a night sleepless and the cool of her den did not comfort her. The ground was chilly from the breezes that came from the north and from the sea, even if the sun shone brightly that day. Lost in her tired daze, she had decided to forsake her attempts at sleep. Instead, she sat a silent vigil with a lighted cone of incense. Her eyes focused in and out on the wisps of smoke from the incense. It created patterns that meant everything and nothing at once. But her vigil proved to be useless as nothing came to her and nothing seemed to put her mind at ease.

Legs sore and body aching, the woman wrapped her silks about her shoulders and added her silver chain around her waist. The red skirt draped over her legs swished as she walked from the ruins and her home to the stable where her mare was. She seemed to be dozing, only vaguely aware as the gypsy opened the stall door and pulled the horse out. The mare still seemed to be dozing on her feet. It took a good feeding and a brisk saddling to wake the mare up fully. Mounted on the mare's back, Isabella raced out of the stables and out of the kingdom's lands.

Soon enough, Isabella found that Seductive was wearing out, her flanks sweaty and her pace slowing. Reining her in gently, the woman let the mare rest as they walked slowly forward. The sky was mottled as the sun began to rise. The mist rose off the earth as the warm sun began to peak forward. The sunny heads of sunflowers appeared as she crossed a cusp of trees, wondering how she had avoided them before on her trip here. Perhaps they had all been dead and easy to miss. Regardless, Isabella stopped the mare, who twitched nervously at the sight of another ambling through the sunflowers.
