Once more, for old time's sake
Set at the old orchard west of Rabbit Lake.

The sun was just peaking over the horizon when the Calidus girl entered the tree lined orchard. She had not ventured south to the old lands of Crimson Dreams in at least a week, and now that she lived with Oak and his family at the new orchard north of here, she hadn't had any reason to come save for nostalgia, if one could call it that. She had only lived in the old Dreamer pack for a few weeks before its disbandment. Of course, she had visited the orchard often during that time, for it was a quiet place to think and practice her forms, but she had a new orchard to walk in. Why then had she risen before the sun and traveled the several miles southward to this one. Her stomach was growling, perhaps she could blame her decision on the desire to hunt in a familiar area. Yes, that excuse would work for now.

Now that she once again had a place to lay her head at night, the cinnamon girl had left her armor at home, and was now clad only in her green blouse, white skirt, her sword belt and quiver. The sheathed blade hung at her hip like always, but the realization of her hunger had driven her to un-shoulder and ready her bow. She would find some small creature to sate her hunger in the orchard and then she would be on her way, back to her home with no other thought as to why she had traipsed all the way back to the orchard of Crimson Dreams. The lass was unlikely to admit it, but she had felt the need to say one last goodbye to her most recent, old homeland a rather pointless sentimentality, but a real one nonetheless.

A cool breathe of wind swept through the apple trees as the huntress crept onward,an arrow notched, ready to be sent flying to its next target. Pointed ears sat perked above her mahogany mane while her nostrils flared at a faint scent that wafted on the breeze. Rabbit! A small target to be sure, but such a catch would satisfy her hunger, if she could find it. Each step fell silently on the grassy earth as she peered down row after row of trees searching for the tiny, furred creature that she had smelled. The third row yielded her prize as just beyond the next tree sat the fluffy form of a rabbit. Sea green gaze locked to her target as her slender arm drew back the bowstring. A moment to aim and then, 'thump' the dull thud of an arrow striking its target, and the earth behind.

The huntress had almost thought she missed, seeing nought but the shaft of an arrow sticking up out of the earth until she came up to it. Her shot had killed the rabbit and pinned its carcass to the grassy blanket it had been nibbling on. The size of the arrow in comparison to the miniscule lagomorph made her shot seem almost overkill. What was done was done, though and now she at least had her snack. Careful not to get blood on her white linen skirt, the wolfess sat down against the nearest tree to sate her hunger. The orchard had yielded its bounty one last time. Now all she had left to do was finish eating and get back home to Berwick where she would need to find something useful to do. Food came first, though.
