There was a glimmer of anger in green, and Vesper shared the sentiment. It wasn’t simply that her clan had been targeted, but this matter of war stressed her out regardless. There was a harsh contrast between the feral scraps in the woods she’d had plenty of during her time as a loner, and the clash of steel and heave of bleeding bodies that was a full-scale assault. She wasn’t meant for it, but it likely said a lot that she had thrived anyway, despite the stress. Her survival proved that she was meant to be in Inferni, which had seen war plenty of times before. She was proud of that and proud of those newer and weaker underneath her, such as her sister Sparrow. They had healed and they would thrive.

Vesper was slightly embarrassed at the other’s cocked head, knowing the reason behind the glance. She didn’t want to explain herself, however. Heat made her nervous, and the other’s scent was tantalizing even to the scarred female. The electricity that flashed at each touch didn’t quite put her in danger of losing her mind and desiring to mate with the loner, because her biology didn’t quite work that way (not to mention she was concerned with what a certain girl back home would think), but it did make her edgy. She didn’t know what she’d do.

“Pff,” she responded at the other’s claim of friendliness. “I suppose you’re a soft folk, even if your bears make up for it.” She knew that there had been a war in the south even before she’d joined the coyote clan, but it seemed like times had changed since then.

Her tail wagged in amusement at being called a lady, a wry smirk on her lips. “Vesper,” she said, sweet and simple as the other’s name. She decided she liked the sound of Terra, which was a name she wouldn’t be surprised to hear in her own birthplace.

She took a seat on the loamy soil. “So what do you do in the south, if not fight each other?”
