Her feet securely on the ground, Myrika felt comfortable enough to hold the puppy. She did so awkwardly at first, holding him up to look at him closely for a moment before cradling him more comfortably and confidently in the crook of her arm. A big hand gave the little one more support, and she grinned down at him. That little face, she cooed, grinning down at the little one. Her big ears twitched upward to listen to Helotes, and she faltered a moment. Zana? She knew her cousins well enough, and that they were both her cousin meant they were cousins, too. What made you pick Zana? she asked, more interested in the little one again. She picked up a tiny paw and stroked at the little muzzle and head, still smiling down at him.
I understand, she said, although she did not. There was a twinge of desire within Myrika for parenthood, but the logistics of it were too frightening to even begin considering. Kaena wants me to -- make babies, she said, faltering over this last. I imagine she wants all of us to make babies.
