They were finally mates! Palaydrian felt like she would simply burst from happiness over the past few days now that she and Jiva could finally combine sleeping quarters and the red man could spoon her at night, effectively keeping the nightmares at bay and proving her theory right. Everything was amazing. He was more than she could ask for in a husband. Loving, caring, kind hearted, and attentive to her every need. They had been spending so much time together since the attack, that now they would occasionally finish one’s thought. Everyday was a blessing to be had and she couldn’t have been happier with another. The visit from her father in law, Niro, had left the newlywed pair in a stage of bliss. His being there had made the proposal that much more special for two. Nothing could go wrong in their worlds as long as they took it on together.

Palaydrian had started off her day of mateship by waking her love with kisses and letting him know she was planning on taking an early morning dip in the lake. She invited him to come along but he had wanted to do a little herb collecting himself. No matter, she had made swimming in the lake or the river in Avalon part of her daily routine of getting better. Finding that the water had “healing powers” as over time, it strengthened her limbs as well as her ribs in her recovery. Even though she couldn’t run yet, she was still able to keep up her endurance by swimming and using her full body instead of laying around in the den. Swimming made her body ache in a good way, stealing away any feelings of invalidity that still lingered from the attack, but Drin was a strong girl and was quickly moving on from the horrors of that day.

She had returned to the den in the afternoon, running into Jiva and letting him know it was good to have a mate by stealing a few minutes out of his day to share affections. She loved having a clear mind where she wasn’t jumping him every second, but actually kissing him out of love not lust. Surprisingly sex hadn’t crossed her mind since he had asked her to be his, and if they were to wait till her next heat cycle, well at least now they wouldn’t have to fight their natural urges. Still, Drin had been a little bit upset when Jiva told her he’d be leaving the next day to escort his cousin to some neighboring packs, seeing as he hadn’t taken her yet now that she belonged to him. Would she have to wait for him to come back? Was a mateship valid without consummation? All these thoughts bombarded her brain, but she of course acquiesced and said it was great he had volunteered to accompany Titania. How could she deny her alphess? And besides, Drin had been waiting for someone special for quite some time. A few more days wouldn’t hurt.

The afternoon had come and was quickly turning into evening. Drin had went out to her garden for awhile and brought back a few more herbs for the pack healers and for Jiva. She headed towards the tree she had first met her mate when a smile spread across her face. Jiva had left her a note, in the storybook he had been reading and teaching her with. She placed her satchel on the ground and began making her way through the woods to Sunset Meadow. The golden woman arrived by the treeline and stared out across the field of flowers painted by the setting sun. Jiva? She called out, finding with surprise that her excellent tracking skills were somehow blocked here by the scent of a thousand flowers. What was he up to?
