Sorry this took so long, I really just need to jump back in.

Word Count → 300+

Coeus had bent his head over a book. The ball had given him a headache and all he really wanted was a bit of quiet and a good to read. Books knew more then he ever hoped for and they always seemed to have a solution at the end of the story. The young wold wished life would come that easily and that sorrows didn't mar his past and present so much. He shook his head, clearing the thoughts that plagued him. He had been thinking of his mother again. The tainted thoughts of her face and voice shadowed him, even though it had been months since she had passed. Coeus wiped his nose with the back of his hand and massaged his aching head.

Through all of it though, he could rely on books. He could steal into the pages and lose his problems and immerse himself into someone elses. It was easier that way, staying disconnected from reality. This way he could be happy and solve their problems and let his own sink into the abyss. The pages whispered to him, murmuring sweet nothings into his ear that only he could perceive. He could see the words coming off the pages and blending into pictures that formed the story. Coeus would smile to himself then, simply enjoying the imagery, the magic of the story. During these moments he could forget his deceased relatives, his horrid fighting talents, and lack of confidence.

Sometimes, he would just lay on his book and close his eyes, letting the words he just read run over him like the refreshing stream that renewed his body. Though some words came out shocking and startling, those were the feelings that made him feel alive, even when he felt so dead. Coeus didn't sink into his book this time though, he was focused on the letters, devouring the page with hungry orange eyes that sought more and more knowledge.
