Strel eyed the book in his hand after he had shown her the cover, unsure of what the words on it meant or how they sounded out. He barely knew his alphabet and only knew a few words in it, most of them relating to his trade or to his name. "Hmm," he mused softly, looking at the shelves as the young woman approached him to peer at the shelves, too. There were pictures of humans on them, though he did not know why they were so special. But they must have done something to get their faces on a book, right? But if he even picked up the book and skimmed it, he'd never know what they did for it. Most probably were smart, even for humans.
Her question took him aback, for it truly did confuse him. "What do you mean?" he asked, dumbly. It was only natural for them to sleep outside, though many he knew preferred to keep indoors. "I don't think so.. unless you're two months old and there are hungry cougars nearby." He had slept outside as a youth, with his brothers and sisters among him. Granted he had already been weaned and was no longer easy prey for predators. Even then, during the colder month they would take a den and stay in it together. But now, he had sometimes slept outside while looking up at the stars. "I don't think so, why do you ask?"
