It was not the reflection she was accustomed to. Her face was scrunched into a frown, peering into what she hoped could have been a mirage. Lilin recognized those mediterranean irises on display; they undoubtedly belonged to her. A thousand times she had studied herself like this, privately indulging in her femininity. She was curious by nature; even more now that she understood the incontestable power of a woman's body and how easily influenced her mate could be. It had been an empowering feeling once. But now, Lilin found herself avoiding the antique standing mirror more often than not. It wasn't until tonight, in the quietude of a bedroom illuminated by candlelight, that she dared look at her body. The changes had been subtle at first, barely noticeable to the eye. Her breasts felt fuller and her waist seemed to have taken some ampleur, accentuating her hourglass shape.

There she stood, unveiled and probing different parts of her body - resting a hand on a belly that felt bloated but showed no signs of physical change. Lilin had failed to notice the most evident alteration until now, or perhaps it had happened only recently. A hushed gasp was pulled from her lips as her hand made its way to her bosom, where it brushed the tip of her enlarged, darkened nipples. The fur in that area had begun thinning out and almost immediately, Lilin felt the quiver of her lip in reaction to her discovery. What was happening to her? Her fingers wasted no time seeking the protection of her beach pareo, hurriedly fastening it around her neck to shield her body from the outside world. How long would she be able to hide this from Saul? Their affection for one another manifested itself through physical means and he would likely take offence to her declining his advances, as would she in his situation. For the first time in her life, Lilin felt self-conscious about her body. Was she being punished by the Gods?

Faint knocking at the door sounded soon thereafter, just as she'd rearranged both her clothing and hair. It startled her at first. The Virdings scarcely got visitors this late at night. Saul was out and about doing his own thing, probably scouting the borders one last time and checking up on Temeraire before coming home. Wiping an invisible tear from her cheek and inhaling deeply, the Soulstorm heir made her way to the front door, pausing to recollect her thoughts before opening. Her older sibling was draped head-to-toe in a cloak, so well concealed that it took a few seconds for Lilin to even speak. ''Coli?'' Was everything alright? Out in the dark, she could barely see her visitor's face. Immediately, she stepped aside before a reply could be provided; granting her sister unhindered access to her dwelling where candlelight would keep darkness at bay. ''Saul isn't home yet,'' she stated tentatively, wondering if it was him she sought. Lilin knew they had worked on the gardens together the day prior but somehow, she doubted this visit had anything to do with herbs.
