Ink had enjoyed his time learning to hunt, even if he'd messed up so many times. Now he was out riding with Jericho. He hadn't intended to travel so far but he'd let Jerri take control and lead them wherever, as long as they didn't pass a pack's borders. She automatically headed South, knowing AniWaya to be her first home. The two rode on in silence, comfortable with eachother's presence. Deep down, the horse knew she wouldn't reach the tribe and that her boy would want to go home but for now... she amused herself.
It was sudden and unexpected. Jericho spooked. Ink wasn't sure what had caused it. Suddenly, the mare started to gallop at full speed in a totally different direction than where'd she'd been heading before. He tried to stop her, to slow her down but was left to go along for the ride- when Jerri had her heart set on something, there was no stopping her, really.
He realized what had happened when the mare came to a slow and steady stop, looking down over a hill at another horse. A man held the other mare's lead and a cat sat on its back. He sighed, thinking the worst was behind them now that Jerri had seen the strangers, but no. She reared and shot out from under him, leaving him to fall to the ground with a yell and a grunt. He shot up a moment later, ignoring the pain in his back and legs from the fall. "Jericho, no! Come back here!"
Sure enough the horse didn't listen. She darted over to the other mare and whinnied, skirting past and turning to rear at them, front legs flailing. Ink darted past them a breath later and grabbed tight to Jericho's reigns, hauling her back down and hugging her face to his chest. "Stop it! Jericho, no!" When the mare finally calmed down, he turned to look at the strangers, holding tightly to his own mare's reigns and panting. "I am so sorry. I don't know what got into her. She never does this."
