I think it really depends on the plot.
Like, if it's sort of dragging on, or something, short posts can really help get through certain events quickly.
But they can also rush things by too quickly, so having detailed, clarifying longer posts help there.
I find it easier to reply to shorter posts, because I feel obligated to reply with roughly the same post length, but I feel a lot of information is lost by them being so quickly paced...
