His attempt to speak was met with perked ears, ready to listen. When a garbled word came out, barely even a word, she felt her ears fall back into her hair, disappearing there. Blue eyes turned into concern and she placed a hand on his chest, over his heart. No words. She'd not speak, not if he couldn't. She didn't understand what he was trying to tell her, but she didn't care. Whatever it was must not have been too important, right? Right. Instead of trying to get it out of him, she moved to press her nose to his cheek with a sigh.

This man was the love of her life, no matter what had happened in the past. Though she wasn't ready to admit it yet, that she still wished to be with him, to pick up where they'd left off and start a family with him, she felt torn. Her gut instinct told her now was not the time to try and make it work again. A time for that would come, but not now. Not with so much going on. She gave another soft, thoughtful sigh into his fur and lowered her head to rest her forehead on his shoulder, hand still resting against his chest, the other holding her up.

This was a dream. Illusion. The peace she felt on the outside was a lie. Inside, she worried for him. Would he ever situation himself properly into the pack? His old age told her to be weary. That he'd die someday, long before her own life would come to its natural end. She knew she'd have to face a day where Shawchert couldn't come back to her and the thought of it sent a shiver down her spine, unwelcome and unkind. She also worried for his health, how much it had declined since they'd lived together in d'Arte. Whatever those bad people did to him, she hoped they would burn for it. He'd lost his tongue, his freedom to shift, and for that she wanted to reap revenge... except, frustrated about this as she was, she could never know who'd done such things. She would never know about any of it. He would never tell her, even if he could, and she knew that by now. She just wished he would.
