Palaydrian had told Leaf they were going on an adventure today. In reality, the young woman wanted to revisit the site of the accident, though Jiva didn’t think it was a good idea and tried his hardest to convince her otherwise. Out of respect for him and wanting to follow his wishes, she had avoided it for weeks, but she woke up with that itch again this morning. Palaydrian simply needed to see the abandoned mine shaft once more, though her children had been transported to her garden and lain to rest beneath her favorite tree. Her nights had been plagued with nightmares of why it had happened and where she had gone wrong, but while Leaf busied himself with a plump furry caterpillar, Drin paced around the rocky mound and peered into the din below. Traces of blood were gone now, washed away by the rain and reabsorbed into the earth, but the rope she and Jiva had climbed up still remained tied to a tree and dangling down into the darkness below. She could see the claw marks in the earthen walls of the shaft and on the rock surface where they had scrambled up, but she couldn’t even remember that part. After Jiva had dropped down into the hole with her, her memory had just gone blank.

She must’ve been standing there for awhile when she felt the needle-like prick in her hind leg. Turning abruptly from being startled she looked down at the kit she had accidently knocked over. Oh I’m sorry Leaf! She exclaimed, quickly scurrying over to the tawny fur ball and righting him on his legs. He made a small yip-purr before giving his mother’s snout a small lick and hopping gaily about. Alright, let’s go, she said before scampering off after the small fox and running deeper into Glen Eyrie. Leaf loved these games of impromptu tag and though Drin normally led him around a wide perimeter to avoid collision with other pack members, but today she chose a shortcut. Leaf would want to feed soon and she wanted to make sure they were back at their own den by then.

It wasn’t long before a certain hiss sent shivers down Palaydrian’s spine and she quickly bounded ahead and grabbed Leaf by the scruff of his neck. The kit gave a shocked mew of protest but instantly went limp in his mother’s soft grip as she found a good hiding spot for him and deposited him in the underbrush. A gruff bark communicated he should stay put while she went to investigate. The next sound sent a whole different kind of awareness into the Omega’s body when she heard Adonia’s voice. Ah hell... she thought to herself, but continued to run until she came face to face with the scene. The fae was trying to get away but the angry badger was not having it. A growl erupted from the woman’s throat as she barrelled towards the badger from the side, careful not to get too close as she’d seen first hand what a badger could do to an overly cocky wolf. Her snarls and displays of dominance turned the violent creature’s attention away for a moment.

Credit goes to Haley for such a pretty table! <3.
