Can't Stand It

Alyssum honestly did not believe Raoth was going to be trouble initially. When she had called the pack to hunt, she saw a man huddled up close to Aro and causing tension with Hadley. She thought it was the jitters of being in a new pack, and Hadley was a nervous guy to begin with. But now, whatever benefit of doubt she had for the coyote was quickly swept away with the blow.

The hit across the muzzle spoke loudly, and her instincts that she was nurtured with since she was born kicked in. An automatic growl rumbled in her throat, wordless but never the less getting the point across that she was not happy, and luckily she was pushed away when she was hit or else she would have lunged at the man without a second thought.

Spar, she reminded herself with a tiny voice in the back of her mind. Her lips unfurled themselves at least, but the low, feral growl remained. The happy, homely woman was seemingly forgotten now. The snap was made towards her, and it did land its mark, but she did not allow herself to back away, and aimed a blow of her own against the shoulder of the arm that had struck her. Very little thoughtful reasoning was in her at this point, but she had enough sense left to remain practical and tactical, and restrained; she still did not put the full force into her movements.
