The sun was barely peeking above the horizon when Ayegali left her temporary camp, packing a small bag with her food and bedding and attaching it to the horse that she had taken from the rest of the tribe. Vtsi, a powerful white Leopard Appaloosa with spots of dark grey, who stood almost as tall as his rider. She and Vtsi were quite a few days ahead of the tribe, riding ahead of them in search of a new home. Tlvdatsi and Tsigili, the cougar and the owl, were acting as her messengers, relaying between the lone Chieftaness and the tribe that was counting on her to find them a new place to settle.
Ayegali didn't manage to reach to the new lands until after the sun had risen straight to the middle of the sky. The scents in the area were different, signaling a new land and new occupants. It made her uneasy though. The scents in the area were heavy and vast, there seemed to be many. Tugging carefully on the beaded rope that looped Vtsi's muzzle, Ayegali pulled her to a stop, taking a moment to gaze at her surroundings through silver eyes. The lands didn't appear to be war ravaged, at least not with the signs that she was used to seeing, and that was the only reason she finally decided to dismount.
Sliding one leg over, the dark woman dropped from the thick blanket on the horse's back, landing with a graceful thud. She gave him a hefty pat with one hand before finally turning away. "Fly Tsigili." The words came in low speech, quiet and directed to the skies. He would scout the area and bring her back the information that she sought. The black woman then reached a dyed hand out to the back of the horse, fiddling for a moment with her pack before retrieving a dried piece of meat and an apple. "We did well." She assured her tired companion as she neared his head, holding out her offering of an apple just long enough for him to take it.
