Helios had contented himself with watching a herd of deer. Any one of them could have been his lunch and he had begun thinking about running one down and making mince meat out of the peaceful herbivore. Feeling confident as the herd was a large one and hadn't moved in awhile, he found that it was alright to just lounge about until he wanted to go after them. He'd met a lot of new canines recently and was tired from all the exuberance he had when meeting new people. Though, his peaceful midday snooze was very rudely interrupted by a sound that startled the herd into flight. It was enough for him to jerk up and stare in shock and frustration.
All day he had lounged, rolling in the sweet, fall-smelling ground in his lupus form and he had nothing to show for it. A fitful rumble caught his stomach and he bowed his head and disappointment. Though, he didn't see how he would catch out now, he supposed a straggler may have wandered off. In the trees, he allowed himself to morph into his luperci body, the transformation appearing painful despite there being very little actual discomfort. Refitting his broad belt and taking up his whittling knife that seconded as a dagger, he set off at a lope towards the far treeline, much disgruntled. However, a new smell caught his nose as it quivered a top his narrow muzzle.
Scowling formidably, he realized that he was not alone in the misty autumn wilderness. Normally, he enjoyed the company of others and even sought it but this time it proved to be simply annoying and quite the inconvenience. Marching along, not carrying his normal welcoming grin he boldly approached the she-wolf with vehemence in voice. "Bah! Did you set off that herd? Scared off my lunch, that's what you did." Helios felt an inclining of guilt for being so rude but anger drove his attitude on as he stood rigid many meters away from the wolf and her fresh kill.
