The wrath of the ocean had reached the city.

Eighty mile per hour winds sent the waves crashing against the docks, destroying them. Rain pinged against the windows of the abandoned building, and the entirety of the concrete shell seemed to shake back and forth, sending a hollow groan up through its skeleton. The groan was echoed by the scrawny wolf hidden within, curled up in a tiny ball in the corner of the dressing room and covered in a pile of old musty clothes. He closed his eyes and buried his muzzle against his knees, groaning again. He thought for sure that he was going to die, as he’d thought the past couple of nights as the gales raged outside. He had done wrong, had not repented, and now Tanrı was punishing him with the finality of death, an eternity of hell before an eternity in hell. He was on land, but all the terror of his trips out at sea came back and broke over his head like the cold swells beating into the coastline.

The building shook again, a louder rumble trembling through its frame, and a hoarse scream brought his ears to attention before they flattened against his head again. There was little more he could do for the horse; she was sheltered inside the old clothing store, even if the roof leaked and the walls threatened to give with each heavy blast of furious wind. The sounds of her shrill whinnies continued for a few more minutes until he heard her moving about in the main room, probably crashing into clothing stands and mannequins. He knew he’d likely get trampled to death even if he did want to leave his little spot and comfort her.

Levent whimpered again before blinking as a pair of bellbottom jeans in the corner of the dressing room shifted. A white cat crawled out from underneath them, amber eyes flickering to the man before he meowed quietly and bounded over into his arms. Wilson put one paw on either side of the wolf’s shoulders in a Luperci-reminiscent gesture, his claws digging lightly into fur on one shoulder and scar tissue on the other, his head stretched up and tucked against Levent’s neck as a weak, tremulous little purr left him. Though usually the more level-headed of the two when it came to disasters like this, Wilson was scared as well, and it was all Levent could do to embrace the tomcat in return and wait for the worst of the weather to pass so he might catch a half hour of sleep.
