and the crashes are heaven, for a sinner like me

The appearance of the canine was a blessing. He could not have wished for another face to appear, though it seemed that the particular face was rather roughed up. The scar on his shoulder deterred him momentarily, his feral anxiety giving him pause. However, any fate was better than being trampled by a horse which seemed to be the other option in the situation. At the face of another animal, the fringes of his numbness began to melt away and the sharpness of his fear cut him deeper than that of the blade at his hip. Clutching the door frame for some vague sense of support, he managed a nod.

Groaning internally at the effort, and flattening his floppy ears against the scream of the wind he retreated further within the confines of the building. As he passed the threshold of the building, his eyes did not leave the horses face. The animal terrified him, a placid horse managed to put him on edge, but one that panicked and furious with fire in it's eyes was a monster to behold. It wasn't until he passed the current occupant in the second doorway when he allowed himself to relax slightly. His fur was sodden with rain, leaving wet paw prints behind him that were dappled in the blood of his leg wound that was beginning to smart again. Exhausted, physically and mentally, he flopped onto a lumpy pile of rotting clothe that reeked of mildew.

Helios released a sharp hiss of pain when he rested his hand on the cut on his leg, but managed to close his eyes for a moment and take in a few, deep relaxing breathes to calm his pounding heart. It was only then when he allowed himself to stare at his savior and current roommate with clearer eyes. His dark hands still twitched with every gale of wind and crack of thunder, but with reasonably strong walls around him he felt confident enough not to be blinded by his fear. "Helios," he said currently, flopping a hand on his white chest. "Might as well know each other before this storm kills us. You?" Bowing his head and rubbing his throbbing temples anxiously listened to the storm and the rocking of the walls around him.
