     Dominance belonged in his blood. Gabriel had been raised with it, and taught from day one he was special. He carried two houses now, for his father was dead and his mother long gone. There would be no retreat from this matter; he would do what he needed to do in order to survive. Those he had lost by the wayside were not worthy. Only the strongest survive.
     At the words, a deep and violent growl reverberated in Gabriel’s chest. When he spoke, however, his words were placid—the underlying tone promised a thousand years of fire. “I still need you,” he spat, and got to his feet. He stepped away from the coyote, watching him as if he was a snake. “Now get out of here and go clean yourself up.”
