The boy had not heard the stories, apparently. Usually it was the young ones that knew the stories well and had heard them from their elders. Tales of Inferni were surely used to scare puppies into behaving, telling stories of the clan's might and ferocity. Certainly they were based on truth, but Hybrid knew that many tales would be exaggerated (sometimes for the worse).

Hybrid snarled, stiffening in response to the child's words. He was a fool. He would also be dead. Hybrid stalked closer, preparing himself to launch an assault and for an attack. He followed the wolf as it moved closer to the grave, snarling once more in warning. He took one quick step and leapt at the boy as he lifted his leg, hoping to catch him while he was on only three legs. He attacked, leaping to strike the wolf's throat with his jaws and rake his back with his outstretched claws. The child would pay for crossing him not only once, but so many times. No one who so blatantly disrespected Inferni would be allowed to leave in silence. He would limp home howling in pain - or perhaps not at all.
