The black coyote walked calmly in the warm light of sunset. It was still chilly out, but not too bad this night, which was good. Garnet had been thinking, probably too much, about her and Jazper. It seemed like after they became mates she had simply been avoiding him. The female had a lot on her mind recently; Jaz, the pack, her mother who had disappeared a long while ago, her sister, Inferni. Everything was all jumbled up in this big, chaotic mess in her mind; she had needed to sort things out.

She sighed, looking around her as she came to a patch of close-growing trees. Ducking between them she found a small opening, a tiny clearing, between them and some rocks. Perking her ears about, she realized it was not too bad in here, mostly sheltered from the winter breeze. Not that the wind bothered her too much, but she didn’t know if it bothered Jazper… There she went thinking of him again. Garnet had felt that she had been neglecting him almost, these last few weeks. The dark coyote lifted her muzzle to the sky, calling out to him suddenly. She sat down in the leaf litter, her back to the rocks, and waited with her hands on her knees. She would have to make it up to him.
