Addison had never been so cold or hungry in her entire life! Her legs felt like they were being weighed down by something as she walked, each step becoming harder and harder to take. She had never travelled so far before, evaded her mother for this long. Momma had told her to stop running away from home, that she was getting tired of chasing her down and bringing her back, so this felt like a small victory. Dierdre had claimed that she'd be able to find her anywhere she went.
The little girl gave one final pant before she stopped breathing altogether, flopping over onto her side in the snow. Surely this was what death felt like--she was definitely dead. She couldn't feel anything on herself any more. Paws, nose, tail...Small head turned upward from her prone position as her breathing began again, one yellow and one blue eye looking up at the sky. It was afternoon and it was snowing outside again, little flakes drifting down. After a few moments of watching it she looked back down at her mix-colored fur, frowning. The snow was starting to cover her up! She growled a little bit, snapping her teeth at the flakes when they came closer to her. She'd keep them off of her!
It took only five minutes for her to grow tired of that, though, as well, and she laid her head back down on the snow. Addi tried to move her legs again, so that she might stand up, but couldn't. They were too cold. She sighed, looking back up at the grayscale sky. She wasn't worried--she knew that her mother would catch up to her eventually. She just had to wait.
