The boy's reply was quick and succinct. For a moment, Hybrid wondered if the child had thought it through. Too bad, the child had replied. Too bad for him, Hybrid thought, trying not to let his grin widen any further. It was ridiculous as it was. Hybrid felt like a damn clown. He frowned and loosened the muscles around his maw. He was no longer smiling. “For you, yes,” Hybrid replied. He raised his head a little to look down at the boy over his snout. On any attractive canine, it would have given him an air of self-importance, perhaps even dignity. On Hybrid, the slight tilt only made him look incriminating. Any semblance of prestige was removed from Hybrid's features. Of course, one could only remove such a thing if one possessed it to begin with. Hybrid had none. Thus, the thought that he removed his dignity was misleading. Hybrid was just a damned bastard looking down upon a child.

Hybrid tilted his head down and to one side as the boy spoke. He frowned, watching the child announce his name. For a moment, Hybrid was annoyed. Why the hell should he care? This was only some kid with a weird name. “So?” he queried. If the boy was giving Hybrid his name, that had to mean something, right? Hybrid wasn't sure. And when he was unsure of things, he generally attacked and asked questions later. It was simpler that way.
