You've got nothing to prove, stay afraid

I can be intimidating. Hybrid's grin widened. He was a maniac composed of toothy smiles and romantic fantasies. But the boy didn't know about the second part. Hybrid was a dreamer and a wisher, but he knew he expressed it in a different way then most did. Every time he clamped down on another creature's flesh, he knew he was doing the right thing. There was something intrinsically right with harming another. So much so that he refused to stop. If it felt this good, how could it be wrong?

Those four words made something stop. Hybrid returned to them, the young child's pleading, begging words. Hybrid snickered, his yellowed teeth visible. Again. Still. He had been doing a lot of this lately. Grinning and smirking. He felt like a snake. "Show me, then," Hybrid demanded. Hybrid would not trust anything this child said until he had verified it with his own two eyes. Hybrid wanted the boy to prove to him he was a failure. That now wolf-creature could threaten him. Maybe, if Hybrid was lucky, the boy would prove him wrong and Hybrid would reward him with the loss of an ear, an eye, a limb. Maybe not a limb. That was too much. Yes, then the boy wouldn't be able to find him again.
