You've got nothing to prove, stay afraid

"Only cowards deserve to be attacked from behind," he replied pointedly. If the boy turned his back on Hybrid, Hybrid would indeed attack. Unfortunately, it was the boy's very request that solidified that action. Hybrid was disappointed. The boy had proved him correct. He was nothing. Just a lonely wolf who couldn't even put some push behind his words. The boy came traipsing about their borders, and what does he do? Turn tail and run. Hybrid supposed that was better than standing around and insulting the coyote that greeted you (although, the boy had done a bit of that), he still didn't like the child. He was still that. Just a child. Barely past puphood, he bet. Too damn awkward and lanky, with eyes that blended in with his coat. How boring.

Hybrid regarded the boy, grimly attentive. He had wanted something to happen. But nothing did. The boy had backed down and Hybrid was still where he had began, slightly elevated over the other canine. They were back to the beginning and nothing had changed.
