The colour (and shape!) of magic

Noir was being a good girl, yes she was. She was further away from the den than she believed she had ever been before. It was necessary though, because the little child with the blue eyes every child at that age shared (except her siblings, apparently) was on a mission. Tayui had explained some of the ranks and roles a wolf could have in Aniwaya, which was the name of the place they lived! So, Noir was in Aniwaya, and there were several other wolves that she had to help and be nice to so that she could be a good citizen. They were making sick people into healthy people with flowers and plants. Snow was all she knew of, and so to see what was revealed underneath it had been a true revelation. The world had been sleeping while the snow had taken over the world, but it was alive and pulsing now, and slowly green was taking over as the dominant colour. Pretty, Noir thought it was so very pretty! The light tan child was at the northern part of Aniwaya, determined to find magic flower and plants that could help sick people, so that she could be a child hero. Her plan was clear, and everyone would acknowledge how such a good she was.

The yellowish flower in front of her was astonishing. The child had never seen flowers before, so it was odd. It was.. beautiful! The little child titled her head in slow motion while forming her lips into a silent ‘o’ in admiration. That plant was bound to have very strong magical powers that could heal anything. The child was not aware of the fact that it was merely a common flower, and that the pack had stacks of them dried and ready for use, so there was no use for it. Noir had seen some of the medicine plants, but many of them had been dry, and therefore the child was not able to recognize it as the same plant. Right now it was a new and exciting discovery that would cure whatever it might be. The girl was completely convinced she had found a true treasure in medicine. The child gently grabbed hold of the flower and pulled it up with the whole root following. Whee. She ran blindly forward, beaming with satisfaction. Oh, there was more! One more flower was pulled up with a piece of root and soil following. A grass looked promising and magical. Soon the child had her whole mouth full of definitely magical herbs that would heal the whole wide world.

The child was about to turn to go home, until she saw the strange, oval things on the forest floor. The Aston girl let go of the weed and lowered her little and black nose to give the things a sniff. They did not smell much, and they were slightly soft. And.. Her nose was pulled back by sheer shock when the white and gray thing had seemed to move. It was surely not an animal! It had no eyes and no mouth, how could it be alive and move!? The child threw a look around, wondering if somehow her sister or one of her brother was playing a weird trick on her. The world around her was quiet, with the exception of pretty bird song. She loved the mornings. The birds were singing and the air was fresh, and the world was pretty to look at. She dared herself to sniff the egg-shaped object again. Then something else happened, that made her fall down on her fat little bum. She could see it moving. Barely, as if there was something trapped inside it. Was she to call for help? Magic rocks, maybe they could heal people?

The innocent girl took the strange thing in her mouth, being extremely careful so that her sharp milk teeth did not pierce the rock, which felt strangely soft and weird. Well, magic rocks were not normal rocks, so there! She beamed, so proud that she was going to save the world. The ‘herbs’ and flowers (some of the plants she had gathered actually were plants that could be used for medicine, but most of it was merely weed and grass) were left behind, and she promised herself that she would pick it up later. Thing was that the little girl did not dare to take everything in her mouth at once. She wished she was big and could walk on two legs like her mother, but that too seemed to be something that came with age. Sigh, why was she so small and tiny! It was not fair how slowly she developed. She was not a runt, but the child had noticed that she was probably the smallest puppy in her litter. Not fair, because she was certain she was the one that wanted to grow up the most!
