........ To her worst fear, Ocèane caught hold of her ruff and started to drag her towards wherever there was no water. Noir could not think straight any longer. The water filled her entire world, and now this was all that was. She resisted Oce’s attempt to help her, clinging to the wet piece of tree, her claws creating shallow lines in the material when her sibling’s strength moved her a bit. The furry puff of stressed fur was unable to reply to her sister, and only let out a high pitched scream when a paw poked her in the face. She was going to fall off and die!! Her heart throbbed painfully against her chest, and it seemed like the simple task of breathing slowly became harder the longer this lasted. The girl was unable to notice her mother until she was very close. Noir’s name was shouted and temporarily shook the child out of her paralysation. It was Mommy’s voice. She was here to save her!

........
A new explosion of tears came with this realization, and there was now a tiny chance that there was a happy ending here somewhere, possibly within reach. But. Her mother was in the water! She had a stick and wanted Noir to grab it with her jaws and hold on to it. What did Tayui want? Was if she pulled Noir out in the water! The child was already scared half to death, so the new wave of misery that hit the child was barely noticeable at all. Yet, she was Mommy and knew what was best. She would never let Noir die. Slowly, ever so slowly the light girl managed to gather enough courage to lift her face up from the wet lodge and grab the offered branch between her teeth. The girl whined pathetically as she tried to get up on her feet, shaking worse than any jelly looking dessert ever made. Her tail pressed itself desperately to her belly before it was forced to point out in order to guide her balance.
