Ember was interested to see the ceremony, after what she'd heard about it. Her friendship with Dawali was growing as she spent more and more time around him, and this would be a new side of him for her to see. She had been living in Aniwaya for a while now, compared to her time spent in other packs, and she wanted to learn more about the tribe's customs and laws. She thought that it was really interesting that they had different events for the changing of the seasons--it made perfect sense to her, that they should welcome the new life that was springing up all around them. The life that they had been given was a gift, and they were showing their appreciation for recieving that gift. Dawali spoke to her and she accepted the compliment with a nod, still smiling.

More of the tribe members arrived and she turned away from Dawali and Noir to greet Catherine and Bluma. Ember did not have the gift of speaking with animals, only her own whale-companion Utriu, so she could not greet the horse in the proper way for its species. Instead, she smiled largely at it and its rider. "Hey there, Catherine. How have you been doing?" She asked.

Soon afterwards, Oceane and Atilla both arrived and she waved at the pups. Tayui hadn't come yet, but surely she would after a little while. Ember could watch the little ones and make sure they didn't get into any trouble until the mother came with Claudius. Noir went toward Catherine, which didn't bother Ember any. As long as she didn't scare the horse and wasn't bothering the female, things would be alright.

The ceremony was beginning, and the dark caretaker sat back beside the other two children with her knees up to her chest and dress folded carefully around her legs to watch what Dawali did and said with curious eyes. No matter how much knowledge Ember had, with her reading ability and her work with the sword, Dawali knew the ways of the tribe. He would always be her leader because he had the experience that it took to lead a group.

She watched as the package fizzled in the fire, thinking over the events of the last few months. They really were lucky to have Tayui and her pups there--without pups, a pack would eventually die out. The pups were their future, the future of Aniwaya. She didn't know if they were supposed to say anything as the tongue burned, so she simply breathed in and out as she normally would. There was an odd smoke in the air, but it had to be a part of the ceremony. Dawali wasn't commenting on it, after all. She breathed it in too, the urge to cough going away after a couple breaths of it. Would he explain more things to them? The things that had already happened were mystifying, and she looked at the burnt-red leader to see if he had anything more to say.
