The look on his brother’s face had made the journey worth it. Lysander couldn’t help but want to share the information he had acquired, and it seemed that he had gotten to Leland before Leroy had had a chance. Lysander had let himself into the tribal lands without permission, head and tail high, as if he belonged. And if anyone questioned him, well Leland was his brother and why shouldn’t his brother be expecting him. Family values differed in these lands but no one knew quite how the husky brothers worked. The could be close, Lysander guessed. They had been at one point.

He found the mutt fully shifted, fumbling about with some sticks and stones, maybe trying to make something, but Lysander wasn’t sure. Ly truly had gotten the brains; he was skilled with tools and making items and conversations. He probably would have fit in better with the tribe. Leland had gotten the looks. The pretty odd eyes, the rich copper coat, he would have done better with the ladies. Lysander didn’t wait for Leland to say anything, as soon as he caught the man’s eye the words came joyously pouring from his mouth. “So, Rue’s a father, huh? Didn’t think the chap had it in ‘em. But I mean, Lyla, who wouldn’t want to hit that? But seven of ‘em. That’s a damn lot of puppies.”

Leland got that look on his face, the one he got when he was sick to his stomach and Lysander grinned that stupid grin when he was enjoying himself a little too much.
