Beginnings are just Endings in disguise.

The surprise of seeing Lysander standing there was enough to cause the male to drop the stick he was whittle away at, his mouth gaping open at his brother. When had Lysander come to these lands? His coat smelled strongly of Phoenix Valley and it was clear the male had been there for weeks, if not longer. His mouth opened a bit but Lysander spoke first. The grey brute had interrupted his brother in the middle of thought, rather than work. Leland spent far too much time thinking these days. Mostly about Asha, and sometimes about Catherine, and one was with longing the other with guilt. He knew too, he wasn’t fulfilling his duties to the pack, and more and more Leland was growing depressed over it all.

The words Lysander spoke startled him, although he wasn’t sure just why. He knew Rue and Lyla had become mates, children were only natural, but that did not stop the information from stinging. Nor did the fact that Lysander had come out of his way just to tell Leland this. Standing up, he strode over to his brother as naturally as possible. Then he punched him. With Lysander sprawled flat on his back, Leland turned away and left the clearing. He’d gather up what few belongings he had and leave that night, after whispering a pathetic apology to Dawali. He missed Lyla, and more so he missed Asha, and he couldn’t bear to hurt Catherine as he knew he would. He didn’t love her, he didn’t truly love the tribe any longer with her missing, and he could only hope that Dawali and Catherine would both understand.
