It was around two o’clock in the afternoon, and the sun was shining ever so brightly. Alexey had taken the initiative to head up north earlier that morning. She’d never seen Ila Harbor in all of its splendor, and today seemed like a good day to do so. It had taken her quite some time to get there, but her efforts had paid off. The Acer was sitting on a wooden dock, her legs dangling off the edge. She was at a peace of mind: the scenery, the sound of waves crashing on the shore, and nature’s tranquility was… wonderful.
Her thoughts wandered from one person to another; her mate, whom she hadn’t seen in a little while. Conor, the puppy she’d grown so attached to. And even Princess, the pretty teenage girl on a quest to find her mother. Alexey wondered if she’d found Tokyo yet. She sure hoped so.
Tentatively, the Caregiver dipped one of her toes in the water. It was cool and refreshing. Both of her feet followed, and soon after, Lexey’s legs were submerged. A small fish remained close to her feet, curiously nipping at her toes every once in a while. It tickled, and she giggled every time. It was a rainbow trout; the pink stripe on its body told her so. She briefly thought about bringing the kids with her one of these days. A picnic with them seemed like a great idea.
