Anu was glad her friend was finding so much joy in the contraption, and the more she watched it glide in the air the happier it made her as well. She needed a distraction, desperately and it seemed that all she needed to do was to seek him out. Anu was finding that when they were together, she entered a whole other world. One that just held the pair, and whatever creature or object had caught Hemming’s attention. Today with a kite, in the past a jellyfish. Maybe next time it would be he who found her with a fallen blue bird, or a creation of her own.

She was startled when he asked if she wanted to hold the string that led to the teetering beast above. Looking up blue eyes took in the sight, the thought of being the one to make it crash on the ground ran through her mind. She looked back to Hemming, encouragement in his eyes, and could not say no. Giving a quick, OK. Anu stood beside him, ready to take over the steering wheel. She smiled at him, blue eyes holding a gleam that had been lost from her gaze for days.
