The little girl was being carried in her mother's arms. They had left the packlands far behind which always made Cambria a little wary. But she told herself it would be fine. When she had gone out with daddy everything had been fine. Everyone would be fine this time too. Mommy wouldn't take her anywhere scary and would protect her. Still, the pup had insisted on carrying the butterfly stuffed animal that her mother had found for her and her sister the other day. She wasn't sure why, but it helped to comfort her and she needed all the comfort she could get when she was outside the safety of home.

Her momma had told her they were going to the pack that was close to them to visit her aunt Ember. The pack had a funny name that was hard for the Marino child to say. What had it been? Ani-something? She couldn't really remember. They passed by a fence that was kinda scary looking and it made her snuggle closer to her mother's chest, hiding her face in her fur. They walked a bit further and then they stopped. She heard her mommy talking and then another voice that was a lady that seemed somewhat familiar, but the chocolate girl didn't bother to look. Then they were walking again, though not very far and her mother placed her gently on the ground.

She was told that there were other puppies in the den right in front of them and that she could play with them while her mommy and aunt talked. But that scared Cambria. She wasn't good with strangers and the last time she had met another puppy he had been mean to her! A soft whine came from her throat but her mother comforted and encouraged her. Her tail and ears held low she walked cautiously toward the den, the plushy butterfly held in her mouth.
