Phosphagos Foothills, one welcome. Kaena is in Lupus form here.

The sun was just setting as the coyote made her way through the shadowy foothills. Streaks of purple and blue devoured the periwinkle and lavender of twilight as the sun sank even further, ushering in the night. The moon rose, and it was nearly full, just the tiniest sliver missing from it. Tomorrow it would rise full, and Kae would find herself electrified, drawn to run beneath the full moon just as the creatures of lore. It wasn't undeniable, but on the full moon, Luperci sometimes found themselves bursting with extra energy. Even now, Kaena found herself feeling the tingle and pull of the moon, and she wandered through through the open plains of Inferni's territory until she came to their border, hesitating for a moment as she inhaled, smelling the wind for any sign of outsiders before she stepped foot outside of their claimed territory.

There was no one nearby, and all of the smells of wolf were relatively stale. Her recent encounter with DaVinci had set her on edge, and though the cut on her shoulder had already healed, there were other reminders of that fight still aching all over her body. She wore them as proudly as she would have any other marks of a fight. It had been a while, and she was healing nicely. The hybrid canine continued forward quickly, trotting in the typical gait of a coyote. Her head was down and her ears were back, though she lifted her muzzle to sniff the air every few minutes to insure she did not miss the approach of another. The ground was no longer wet and though the air was humid, there was a breeze blowing down from the mountains out toward the bay, and it was in her favor. She could faintly scent the tinge of ash on the wind, certainly a carryover from the former territories.

The hybrid was not yet in the mountains, and she slunk through the shadowy foothills, keeping to the deepest parts of darkness herself. She was not nearly invisible there, but the shaded cover helped. There was nowhere she was going in particular—but she intended not to be found by someone unfriendly. It was unlikely that she would encounter an outright enemy this close to Inferni's border anyhow, but the possibility lurked in the back of her head and made her nervous still. That encounter with DaVinci had set her on edge, and she was just being cautious, after all. It was in her nature, and it had kept her surviving this long. The Lykoi hybrid was one who was in particular set in her ways—she was not so much traditional as she was established, and she did not change techniques which had worked so far.

The silver-furred coyote made her way to a low hill with a sharp incline and a small, stunted tree at the top. Its leaves were brilliantly green but it was small in size and had few to boast. Nonetheless, the Veritas settled down to her haunches next to it, her sun-yellow gaze drawn to the sky. The moon had fully risen, and it sat out over the bay in the distance. Tonight, the moon was a strange brilliant red-orange color, a combination of the haze of the day and the lingering high temperatures in the air. It promised an even hotter tomorrow—and the Lykoi woman knew summer was in full swing again, and soon they would be missing the torrential rains of spring as the sweltering heat of summer set in.
