........What had happened to her life? It was like once she had inhaled that white powder everything had come undone. Home was a safe place, especially the mansion. That was the rock that she had built her view of the world on and now it was gone. She wasn't even safe here, inside the house. All the girl could remember was the yelling and how loud it had been to her heightened senses. How it had felt like her heart was about to burst from her chest with how fast and hard it was beating. The white powder had belonged to Naniko, their leader, and it had hurt her. But she had tried to blame it on her or mommy that she had gotten hurt. It was just all so wrong.
........Cambria had been stuck in an all consuming gloom ever since the incident. Her body it felt like wanted more of that powder, wanted to breathe it again, and that scared her. The way she had felt had been horrible and mommy had been so scared. Why would she want something like that again? Mother had kept her locked in the room and had been in there with her most of the time. Monitoring her to make sure that she was okay. But momma wasn't happy either. She was sad, just like Cambria was sad. She didn't know what all else had been said in the shack after Mati had come and taken her away, but whatever it was it must have upset momma.
........Her mother had fallen asleep and sluggishly the chocolate girl moved to the other side of the room where the closet door was open a crack. She wiggled her way inside and curled up on one of the blankets on the floor in there. She sniffled her nose and a single tear ran down her face. Was she ever going to feel happy again?
