She ran until her feet refused to hold

Brooklyn had not expected things to go smoothly. They never did, did they? Just like the time she had tried to visit Gael and ran into the strange, old hybrid. That meeting had shaken her somewhat, but not as much as what was going on now. This was close to her heart, close to her home. Gael could wait, but her mother would not. The girl had thought things would be hard, but not Mati. She'd hoped Savina would come, so that she could give their new Commander a piece of her mind. But instead it was her sister, unshifted and scary. Mati's size dominated Brooklyn and the girl stopped, her tail flicking irritably. "Mati." She tried to make her voice as cold as possible, but the pain was there. No, they could not argue, not now. "I have to go find Momma, Brook. You heard what Savina said. Those lies." She looked away angrily, trying to hide the tears in her eyes.

Although she would never admit it, Brooklyn was scared. Afraid of what would happen now that things were changing. She had to preserve the old ways, just had to. "Mati, I want to find Momma. Bring her back. Prove Savina wrong." The anger at the thought of the black female made the girl snarl. She wiped her tears away and locked eyes with her sister. Oh, just let her try and stop Brooklyn, just let her dare!
