The coyote began to snarl at Xeris, warning her that she was in Inferni's territory. So the white wolf really had stumbled upon the clan's lands. She certainly hadn't meant to. Either way, this stranger didn't seem to be listening to what Xeris had to say. She had a feeling that she wouldn't be getting out of here without a fight, which was bad news for Xeris. She'd never really been in a fight before, and from the looks of it her opponent had been in several--and was still alive to tell the tale. Maybe Xeris could at least sneak out of the borders, distract the other somehow. But combat was unavoidable, she knew that. Hopefully she could escape without getting killed; she knew that Pendzez and Anya both knew a fair bit about healing so if she could only get back to Phoenix Valley...



Xeris suddenly felt hard rain begin to pour upon her body. An immense flash of lightning glowed all around her and she was quickly aware of the coyote's head near her own. The snap of the other's jaws was audible even through the downpour. That had been a warning, Xeris knew it. As several thoughts flashed through her clouded mind, the white wolf shifted quickly into her Secui form. She was not used to this form as much as her Lupus or Optime forms, but knew that if it did come down to fighting, this would be her best bet. The white wolf began to back away slowly, refusing to take her eyes off the coyote in front of her. If it was a fight she wanted, it was a fight she'd get--Xeris had no other choice. With a sudden burst of courage she leaped at the other's forelegs, jaws open in an attempt to land the first blow...
