She leaned back and examined her handiwork. The patched fur looked odd, certainly, but the tattoo itself was brilliantly shiny, and it looked as good as it would in the coming weeks.     The lead-furred coyote cracked a grin at Halo, nodding her head enthusiastically, flipping the mirror around for her to look. "Get your look now before the swelling sets in," the ashen canine advised. "It won't look good again till it heals," she teased gently. No one ever said getting a tattoo was painless or simple—Halo would have to take care to disinfect the wound at least once a day with an ocean soak, and if it began to ache sharply, she would have to use some of Naniko's salve on the tattoo, and hope that it killed the infection—and if not, off to a healer they went. None of the tattoos Kaena had ever delivered had resulted in infection like that before, though the coyote who taught her this art had warned her of such things happening.     "You'll have to soak it in the ocean once a day, and if it hurts a lot more than it usually does, come find me right away. Should totally heal up in about a month," the hybrid said, perhaps overestimating the time slightly—in truth, they were not totally healed for six weeks, though most of the time they ceased showing signs of tenderness and swelling after just a week and a half. "Do you like it?"
