No no no nononononono became a warped chant in his head. This was wrong. They shouldn’t have seen him, they shouldn’t have all been there. Coyotes were stupid! Coyotes weren’t supposed to be organized! Another howl, one incredibly wolf-like, rose to his right. They had him surrounded. Didn’t matter, he would find a way. He had to get out of there, and get out of there now. As he ran the scents began to pour in with the harsh wind; five? Six? How many were there!?
Then, suddenly, another yowl went up directly in front of him. The wolf balked and nearly jumped out of his skin. Unable to turn on a dime he came to a near complete stop before doing so, and took off north. God damn those coyotes! He’d find a way out, he had to! Desperation was all that fueled him now, even though he was rushing closer into the heart of the territory with the near entirety of the Inferni clan on his heels.
