For Ghita and later Jazper. Set at Cinlia Hollow. 300+

Everything was falling apart. At least that's how it felt to the Italian woman. She had spent the past few weeks doing her best to avoid seeing any of her packmates aside from Kansas and her children. Kansas was the only one to know the silent hell that she had been thrust into. Of course she did her best to keep it from the pups. She did her best to plaster on a fake smile around them and act like nothing was amiss. They didn't need to know, not yet. Especially not Cambria. Finding out about her uncle and what was happening would only risk throwing her back into the depression she had taken so long to climb out of. No, she wasn't going to let that happen. Not to her daughter. So she took the torment quietly as her cascade of emotions tied her stomach into knots and ate away at her insides. Her chest was hollow and the heart inside only seemed to beat shallowly. Only able to muster the strength to keep her alive.

Avoiding the pack meant going away from the mansion and her other usual haunts. She supposed it was a good chance to explore the pieces of the territory she was most unfamiliar with, though she wished it were a better excuse. One where she actually wanted to instead of be driven there for want of an escape. For want of solitude. Today she had traveled south. The further from Haven Manor the better. Ghosts seemed to haunt her there. Plus the chances of running into someone were always higher inside the pack's living quarters. So on four legs the Commander had traveled to the old human military base that lay within the borders. Savina had been here before, but only in passing. The old skeletons of this human place were oddly soothing to her troubled mind. There were no connections for her to have here, no memories to draw from the rusted metal and dilapidated structures. Nothing to remind her of Ehno and how their bond was cracking and breaking. She had thought they would always be inseparable, but now there was an ice cold dagger lodged in her heart. A numbness spread from that once vibrant organ to every cell of her body. But in that numbness there was a poison and it was that which tortured the wolf.

With an almost inaudible sigh she sank to her haunches, her head hung and her eyes closed. How had this happened? How?
