you'd better look alive.

There was another presence here, lost in the fervor of the moment. She stiffened, her defined coyote muzzle pointing toward the newcomer and inhaling sharply. The Centurion did not miss the scent of Jacquez and Cour des Miracles mingled amongst the younger canine's pelt, and again she marveled at how the coastal pack liked these lands surrounding the coyotes. This was the third she'd seen in this area, and it struck her as odd, though none of them had ever presented themselves as a threat before.

And anyway, Kaena Lykoi had had her way with Jacquez Trouillefou, and she personally had nothing to fear from the coastal pack. After bedding each other once, their meeting after that event had been rather lustful, though it had not come to the same conclusion, since Kaena had accompanied Anselm home to Inferni—though certainly not to sleep with him, as he considered her an aunt of sorts, not that Kaena would have objected to another infusion of de le Poer into her loins. Ahren had been more than pleasant, and she found herself recalling the crucifix in the church for a moment before also remembering that such a place was restricted only to memory now.

The hybrid stepped over the badger's body as if to protect her kill, though she had no intention of eating the creature. If anything, she would drag him back to Inferni, deal with the mess of decapitating him, and put his head on a pike. The more the merrier, the coyote woman thought. If others were inclined to devour badger meat, the hybrid would allow them the pleasure. The red-furred female had been watching her, and even now that she had been noticed she did not speak. There was clear reservation in the coyote, as the wolf did not appear particularly well-meshed into the Miracles pack. Their scent was not terribly strong on her coat. "See anything you like?" she asked rather sharply.
