Kaena had left her own packlands seeking solitude, and now there was this girl here bothering her. The hybrid woman kept the sour snarl off of her face for the moment, though she was still not being friendly. There was no reason to—wolf or coyote, most creatures didn't appreciate simply being watched, and certainly Jacquez would understand if she smacked the ennui right off the younger canine's face, wouldn't he? Dark and twisted thoughts flew through the coyote woman's head, and she raised her lip, displaying just one long, sharp canine tooth in the woman's direction. A ridge of irritation had risen along her spine, all spiky sable and grizzled fur, clearly showing indignation at the red wolf's words.

The hybrid was not blind to scars, and the Miracles wolf's were interesting, to say the least—but in the moment they meant nothing to the silvery canine. "Oh, you think so?" the coyote asked, a grin that could only be called malign on her scarred muzzle, sitting there quite smugly. She was sizing the younger canine up already, her sharp golden eye regarding the russet female with a self-assuredness that was natural to arrogant Kaena. Her raspy voice was flat and calm, disguising the rage that had risen at the girl's smart mouth.

There was nothing new here for Kaena; this was simply another punk wolf who thought it was alright to take advantage of hybrids. The woman's opinion of Jacquez had not fallen any, but maybe now she would regard the Miracles wolves with a little more caution than she had before, if this was the attitude they had amongst their ranks. The hybrid woman had stepped fully over her kill, though one back leg remained over it as if to hold it and proclaim it as her own. She had ceased advancing there, quite content to leave the distance between them exactly as it was.
