Had it been, or hadn't it? The hybrid woman had mulled over this question in the darkest, most sober parts of the past few weeks. Surely, she had to fault herself. She had been dumb enough to wander to the city in the dead of night, right under his nose, dumb enough to be cornered—it was her goddamn fault, her goddamn stupidity that had put her the rotten pit of misery she was currently submerged in. That made it even harder for the hybrid woman to cope; she could have prevented all of this if only she'd waited till daybreak or taken a partner. She had encouraged, him, even—she figured it'd be better than dying at the time, only now, the silvery canine almost wished she were dead.

The wolfish hybrid was playful, though the coyote could not muster the strength in her to mimic him in any way, only again offering that ghost of a smile. Her sable ears had been pinned back the whole time, though now they half-lifted to listen to him, and she breathed a sigh of relief, hauling herself up from the ground. Standing made her head spin, and she almost fell back, wavering for a moment with the bottle sloshing in her hand before she caught her balance, lidding her golden eye and breathing outward. "I'm just drunk, yeah," she muttered in response to his question. "Let's go get more messed up," she said, opening her eye again. For a moment, it almost seemed that vibrant Kaena had returned in all her strength, but just as quickly as that fire appeared, it disappeared again, vanishing with the coyote's wobbly step in the direction of the mansion.
